Variables and themes
Variables hold the colours, sizes and words a design repeats. Themes switch them all at once, for example between light and dark.
1Variables
Open the Variables panel with Cmd+Shift+V. Create colour, number and text variables, search them, and bind them to fills, strokes, sizes or text. Agents can also create true or false variables.
2Themes
Add a theme to create an axis such as Mode, then add variants such as Light and Dark. Each variable can have a value per variant, and switching the variant repaints everything bound to it.
Save the current set as a preset to reuse it in other files. Presets can be exported to and imported from .optheme files.
3Design systems
Four complete design systems ship with the app: Halo, Lunaris, Nitro and shadcn. Each is a full token set with light and dark themes. Apply one from Home, Design systems, or ask an agent to.
4design.md
The Design System panel (Cmd+Shift+D) keeps a written description of the design: visual theme, colours, typography, component styles, layout principles and notes for generation. Agents read it before they draw.
- Import or export it as a
design.mdfile. - Auto-generate it from the current design with your AI model.
- Sync all to variables turns its colours into variables; +Var adds one at a time.
5Style guides
The Asset Center has 63 built-in style guides the agent can follow, and your own: import any DESIGN.md file, or paste one, under Styles. Pin a style to make the agent use it for every new design.
