Files and privacy
Design Editor has no accounts, no cloud and no telemetry. Your files stay where you save them.
1When it goes online
Only for something you asked for:
- The AI provider you configured, when you use the chat.
- Openverse, Wikimedia or an image generator, when you look for or generate pictures.
- Google Fonts, when you download a missing font.
- GitHub, to check for a new version.
- Web pages you put in a browser node or import from a URL. Private network addresses are refused.
- Your git remotes, when you pull or push.
2The MCP server
It listens on 127.0.0.1 only, so other computers cannot reach it. It refuses requests from web pages on other origins and limits how many connections it accepts.
3What is stored where
| Location | Contents |
|---|---|
App config folder, design-editor/ | settings.json with API keys, theme presets, UI kits, window state. |
~/.design-editor/ | Your templates, styles and fonts, logs, the MCP port file and git credentials. |
API keys and git credentials are saved as plain text in files only your user account can read. They are not in the system keychain.
